When we arrived in New Zealand at the end of March hoping to escape the overcrowded streets of London and jobs we were never fully satisfied with, we had no idea that we’d be leaving as bloggers and founders of The Good Life Co.
We came here thinking that we would spend the next six months converting an old outbuilding into an Airbnb, only dreaming about the things we really wanted to do – like start a sustainable food truck selling traditional treats with a British/Kiwi twist, build our own house made from sustainable materials, or somehow be able to travel the world for free, working and blogging as we go. We never imagined that we would actually do any of this. But somehow, we actually managed to make a start on some of these dreams.
The last few months have been incredible. We created and launched our website, travelled all around New Zealand planting our Good Life Trees as we went, tried new vegan and vegetarian recipes, and became parents to two baby lambs. We’ve also discovered new materials to build and create with, tried loads of new, amazing natural products, and even tried making our own.
On top of this, we’ve discovered some fantastic eco-friendly brands, companies and people who are all doing amazing things in New Zealand, the UK, and all over the world. We can’t wait to get to know you all better and hopefully work more closely with you in the future.
For now, the NZ adventure is over. Tomorrow, we’re heading off on a month long trip around the Americas, starting in Houston, Texas, and heading across to New Orleans. We’ll then be hitting Mexico City before embarking on our week long tour of the Galapagos Islands. And after that? Hawaii of course! Then we’re off to our final destination, Canada, to begin our winter season working in the Rocky Mountains. We hope you’ll be following us on our travels, and see what life brings over the next six months!
We also want to say a massive thank you. If you’re an ethical or sustainable brand or a blogger, thank you for being so inspiring and for motivating us to keep going on this journey. If you’re a reader, thank you for reading this blog, and for taking the time to learn more about us and our ideas and aspirations. If you’re a friend or family member, thank you for your support and for believing in us – and for putting up with us in general. We cannot wait to share the rest of our journey with you all!
